interchangeable lanyards and straps
The cords and lanyards are among the most important components of our Change Cases. They secure your phone in every situation and must therefore above all be stable, durable and tear-resistant! We initially used 100% organic cotton cords, but they were not up to the daily demands placed on them in terms of quality. Therefore, we decided to make our cords and straps from a blended fabric of cotton and xx% recycled polyester (Dacron).
recycled polyester
For the recycled polyester, polyester products that can no longer be used are melted down and spun into new polyester fibers. We can then use these in our cords. Recycling polyester prevents plastics that are not biodegradable from ending up in the ocean or landfills. Plus, recycled polyester is just as high quality as new polyester. The only difference: it requires fewer resources to produce.
manufacturing process
The production of recycled polyester requires about 59% less energy and reduces the resulting CO2 emissions by 32%. No valuable and above all finite crude oil is needed for production, and the resources of our earth are sustainably conserved. Therefore, it only makes sense to recycle a material that has already been produced. Thus recycling and reuse is active environmental protection.
organic cotton
The cotton we use is Oeko-Tex certified, which ensures that the products are free of harmful substances and harmless to health. In addition, our cotton is GOTS certified. GOTS is an abbreviation for "Global Organic Textile Standard" and is awarded to organic fibers whose entire supply chain has undergone an independent and transparent certification process. As part of this process, a comprehensive set of criteria is assessed in terms of environmental and social criteria. Only if all criteria are met can the cotton receive the certificate.
manufacturing process
For the cultivation of 1 kg of cotton, up to 11,000 liters of water are consumed in conventional cultivation for the production! In addition, the monocultures often trigger a very high fertilizer requirement. Therefore, we have decided to use organically grown cotton. This still requires almost 6,600 liters of water for production (i.e. up to 40% less), but the environmental impact of pesticides is reduced enormously by adhering to certain crop rotations! We are already working on a textile collection for which we will use only organic cotton.
